Latest: Kepler 1.6 · October 28, 2026
  1. Kepler 1.7 Not on Google Play yet Coming soon

On its way to Google Play. These changes arrive with the update.

Kepler Pro for every device you add

Share your Kepler Pro with the devices you add, back up everything you set up, find every search result by tag, and see subtitles on many more live channels.

    • New TVTablet

Kepler on Fire TV and Fire tablets

Coming to the Amazon Appstore. Kepler Pro bought there covers your Fire devices and the devices you add.

    • New PRO

      Back up and restore

Keep everything you set up in one file, and bring it back on any TV or phone.

      • Holds your playlists with their logins, favourites and groups, what you were watching, reminders, booked recordings, parental locks and settings.
      • Saves to this device, a USB drive, a network folder or your Google Drive, where Kepler sees only the files it makes.
      • Back up automatically every day or every week; the last five are kept.
      • On a new TV or phone: I’ve used Kepler before › From a backup. Restoring needs no Kepler Pro.
      • Put back what was here undoes a restore for seven days.
      • On a TV, a QR code moves a backup to your phone and back.

A backup has no password: anyone who has the file can read your playlist logins. Keep it somewhere private.

Find it in Settings › Sync and backup

    • New

Every search result, sorted by tag

Search shows the whole list of channels, films and series it found, with your playlist’s tags to narrow it.

      • On TV, See all leads any row with more than 12 results and opens every one of them on a screen of its own.
      • On a phone, See all sits at the end of each heading.
      • Tags such as DE or FR narrow the results, each with its count, and the tags you watch come first.
      • Pin the tags you want first in the list of every tag.
      • Searching the TV guide answers at once, even in a playlist of 250,000 titles.
    • New PRO

Kepler Pro on the devices you add

One purchase covers up to 10 devices, wherever they are.

      • A TV you add gets your Kepler Pro, even one on another account, or a Fire TV.
      • Kepler says how many places are left, and lets you remove a device when all 10 are in use.
      • A new device joins from its first screen without Pro of its own: I’ve used Kepler before › From a device near you.

    • New

Subtitles and sound on live channels

Subtitles show on many more channels, and your choice stays with you.

      • Teletext subtitles now show, in each language’s own letters: German, French, Polish, Czech, Turkish, Russian, Greek and more.
      • Your subtitle and audio language carries to the next channel.
      • On TV, a check marks the track in use in Audio, Subtitles and Speed.
      • On a phone, Subtitles and Audio no longer sit over the channel list.
    • New

      Kepler in Finnish

Kepler now speaks Suomi, written the way a Finnish app would say it.

      • Choose it on the first screen, or at any time after.

Find it in Settings › Look & language

    • Better TV

      A simpler channel banner

Choose Simple for a banner with the channel and what is on, without the row of tiles.

      • Two lines about the programme take the tiles’ place.
      • Right opens the TV guide, and OK the channel list.
      • Switch it from the player’s own settings too, while a channel plays.

Find it in Settings › Playback

    • Fixed Phone

      A player that stays still

Changing channel no longer moves things under your finger.

      • The panel under the picture has one height on every channel, with a guide or without.
      • Tapping a channel no longer scrolls the list.
      • The list opens on the channel you are watching, even far down a long group.

    Also better

    • Better Sync and backup lists your devices on one board, and Back returns to the row you came from.
    • Phone Language is one row in Settings › Look & language .
    • Tablet The first screens and Kepler Pro’s plans use the whole screen, side by side when the tablet is held sideways.
    • Better Kepler Pro’s plans recommend the lifetime plan.
    • TV A show’s season tabs say how many episodes each season has and how many you have watched: 3/8, or a check once you have seen them all.
    • TV PRO New episodes can be kept quiet: switch off Tell me about new episodes in Settings › Playback .

    Fixed

    • Fixed A replay from the TV guide starts on the programme you chose, not an hour later.
    • Phone Stream diagnostics shows its figures over the picture on a phone too, not only on a TV.
    • Fixed Resume the last channel never restarts a film.
    • TV Back from an episode lands on that episode.
    • Fixed A recording saved to a network folder leaves no copy on the device.

Recordings and downloads on a USB drive or your network

Keep recordings and downloads on a USB drive or your network, play films in the app you prefer, and find your way around a rearranged Settings.

    • New PRO

Recordings and downloads on a USB drive or your network

Choose where recordings and downloads go: this device, a USB drive, or a shared folder on your NAS, router or computer.

      • Kepler finds the servers on your home network by itself: pick one, sign in, and choose a shared folder or make a new one.
      • Check and save tries the folder before keeping it.
      • Kepler keeps its files in a Kepler folder inside the one you choose, apart from your own.
      • Every message names the server, folder or user it is about.

Find it in Settings › Recordings & downloads

    • New PRO

Play films in the app you prefer

Choose your default video player: Kepler, or an app on your device such as VLC or Nova.

      • Once you pick an app, a switch sends films and episodes there: Play, Resume and Continue watching open in it, from where you left off.
      • When the app says where you stopped, Kepler keeps your place.
      • Live TV, replays and recordings stay in Kepler.
      • The other apps are listed with their own names and icons, with a search on a phone that has many.

Find it in Settings › Playback

    • New TV

      Change channel with the arrows

For remotes with no channel buttons, like those of an NVIDIA Shield, a Chromecast with Google TV or a Fire TV.

      • Choose whether Up or Down goes to the next channel, here or in the player’s own settings.
      • Left still opens the channel list, and the key hints on screen follow your choice.
      • It is off unless you turn it on.

Find it in Settings › Live TV & guide

    • New

      12-hour or 24-hour time

Times can show as 9:30 PM as well as 21:30.

      • Automatic follows your TV or phone; or choose 24-hour or 12-hour yourself.
      • It applies everywhere, from the guide and the channel lists to the player and your reminders.

Find it in Settings › Look & language

    • New TV

A playlist’s own guides, on the TV

Manage the guides of one playlist from its details.

      • In My Playlists, open a playlist’s details and choose Guide data.
      • Switch its own guide off or on, add or remove a guide, download them again, and see which one failed.
      • Adding a guide needs Kepler Pro.
    • Better

      Settings, rearranged

Nine groups named for what you want to do.

      • Playback, Live TV & guide, Playlists, Recordings & downloads, Look & language, Parental control, Sync between devices, Kepler Pro, and Help & about.
      • Each setting says what it is set to and what that does; one that depends on another appears under it once it matters.
      • On the TV the white highlight only shows where you are; what is chosen has a mark of its own.
      • On the phone each group opens a page of its own.
    • Better PRO Phone

Your groups, by type, and yours to arrange

Home has Your Live TV groups, Your movie groups and Your series groups.

      • Each lists the groups you pinned, in your order, then the ones you opened lately.
      • Open All to drag your pins into order, unpin one, or pin a recent group.
      • The Live, Movies and Series lists, and your other devices, follow your order.
    • Fixed

Recordings start and end with what was on screen

A recording now starts and ends with the scene on screen, give or take two seconds.

      • It used to begin about half a minute after you pressed Record, and run on as long after Stop.

    Also better

    • TV The controls of a film count down the time left beside when it ends: Ends at 22:12 | −1:28:04.
    • Phone Edit opens the same page as Add playlist, so the keyboard no longer hides half of it.
    • Phone An Xtream login can choose again whether to load movies and series, and a changed address is checked before it is saved.
    • Phone The boxes you type in have an outline you can see.
    • Better A new parental PIN is typed twice, so a slip of the finger cannot set one you do not know.
    • Better A long shared folder name gets smaller to fit instead of breaking in the middle of a word.
    • Phone The guide says when the playlist’s own guide was switched off on a TV.

    Fixed

    • Fixed The player closes when a film has finished, as Back does; an episode with a next one still goes on to it.
    • TV Ends at no longer shows a minute early, and moves on with the clock while a film is paused.
    • TV Every recording in the Library has its picture.
    • Fixed Downloads only ever touch their own files, never one of yours with the same name.
    • Phone Full screen stays when you turn the phone, until you turn it upright or press Exit full screen.
    • TV The details of an Xtream playlist scroll, so its subscription, expiry date and server can be read.
    • TV In the TV guide, an empty group no longer shows the programme of the channel before it.
    • Phone The keyboard no longer covers the bottom of the Add playlist page.
    • Fixed The page of a film you watched to the end offers Play again, not Resume.

Kepler 1.4 and 1.5 went to testers first and reached Google Play together with 1.6.

  3. Kepler 1.5

Subtitles from OpenSubtitles, playback speed, and your own order

Find subtitles on OpenSubtitles.com, style and time them your way, watch faster or slower, load just the live TV you watch, and arrange your groups and channels on the phone too.

    • New PRO

      Find subtitles on OpenSubtitles.com

A film or episode without the subtitles you want? Kepler searches OpenSubtitles.com for it.

      • Open Subtitles and choose Find subtitles online.
      • Pick the language above the results, or any other under More languages; one press downloads a subtitle and shows it.
      • Searching needs no account; downloading uses your own free OpenSubtitles.com account.
      • A subtitle you downloaded comes back when you open the title again.
    • New

      Subtitles your way

Style and time subtitles while the film plays, with the picture in view.

      • Change their size, colour, edges, background, font and position, and see each change as you make it.
      • Move them in tenths of a second when they run ahead of the voices or behind; Kepler remembers it for that title.
      • Subtitles now look as in most players: white with a black outline, just above the bottom of the picture.
      • Subtitles stored as pictures, common on Blu-ray copies, now show, with the italics, colours and positions a file sets.
      • With no subtitle language set in Settings, the next film starts in the one you picked last.
    • New PRO

      Playback speed

Watch films, episodes, replays and recordings from half speed to double speed.

      • In quarter steps: on the TV among the player’s buttons, on the phone at the top of the player.
      • The speed stays for the next episode, and the times on screen follow it.
      • The player starts at normal speed again the next time you open it.
    • New

Live TV only, if that is all you watch

When you add an Xtream login, choose whether to load its films and series too.

      • Leave them out and they never take space on your device.
      • Change your mind in the playlist’s details: switching them off frees their space at once.
    • New PRO Phone

Your own order on the phone

Arrange your groups and channels, as the TV already could.

      • Hold a row and drag it, or drag it by its handle; the list scrolls when you reach its edge.
      • Find Reorder next to Hide in the edit mode of the group list and of the channel list.
      • The group list can follow your playlist’s own order instead of A to Z; Live, the Guide and the player share the choice.

    Also better

    • Phone With the phone upright, a film’s title has a line of its own under the player’s buttons.
    • Phone Subtitles and Audio open under the picture, or at its side, so the film stays in view while you choose.
    • Better While the controls are up, subtitles sit just above them instead of under them.
    • Better Tracks named with a short code read as their language: Finnish rather than FIN.
    • Phone One progress bar instead of two, and a switch that is off is easier to tell from one that is on.
    • Better A video with no subtitles of its own says so in the Subtitles list.
    • Better Reorder in a list sorted A to Z or by number switches it to playlist order, and says so.

    Fixed

    • Fixed Coming back after Home on the TV, or Retry after a stream error, carries on from where you were.
    • Phone All, from one of your own groups, returns to the group you were browsing instead of an empty list.
    • TV Closing Audio, Subtitles or Speed puts the selector back on the button that opened it.
    • Fixed A replay that cannot start shows its message on a black screen, not over a stretched picture.
    • Fixed A film whose sound only your TV can play stays at normal speed, and Kepler says so.
    • Fixed Adding a subtitle or coming back to a film no longer stretches the picture for a moment.
  4. Kepler 1.4

    Bring your setup along

Move your favourites and groups to another playlist, a Playlist card on the phone that does more, and clearer answers when something goes wrong.

    • New PRO

Bring your setup from another playlist

Changing playlist no longer means starting again.

      • Your favourites, My list, own groups, the groups you hid or locked and your order are found by name on the new playlist.
      • You see what was found before anything changes.
    • New Phone

      The Playlist card on Home

Tap it to refresh, edit or switch playlists.

      • Follow a refresh as it runs, right on the card.
    • Better

Clearer answers when something goes wrong

Kepler now says what happened, instead of a vague server error.

      • A username or password the playlist no longer accepts is said as such.
      • Live TV and catch-up play from servers that refuse the usual stream address; when a film cannot play for that reason, Kepler says why.

    Also better

    • TV Holding Up or Down keeps moving through films and series, row after row.
    • TV A playlist of films and shows alone opens on Movies, and its setup skips the TV guide step.
    • Phone Edit mode can invert a selection, so keeping two groups out of hundreds takes three taps.
    • Better Each playlist wears its initials on a tile of its own colour.
    • Phone An eye in the password field shows what you typed.
    • TV Big counts are grouped for reading: 160,394 rather than 160394.

    Fixed

    • Fixed A section whose groups you all hid stays in the menu, so you can always show them again.
    • TV Back from a setup that could not load your playlist takes you to My Playlists.
  5. Kepler 1.3

    Instant on the remote

Moving between the channel list, its groups and the menu on TV now answers the moment you press.

    • Better TV

Left and Right answer on the press

Moving between the channel list, its groups and the side menu happens as you press, not when you let go.

      • On some remotes that was a quarter of a second on every move.
      • The groups and the menu also slide in and out more smoothly, even on modest TVs.

    Fixed

    • TV Closing the groups puts the selector back where you opened them from: Sort, the guide’s time buttons or your poster.
    • TV Another group of films or series opens on its first title, not somewhere down the list.
  6. Kepler 1.2

    Speak, and the next episode

Voice search on TV, your own audio and subtitle languages, the next episode ready as the credits roll, and word when the shows you follow get new episodes.

    • New TV

      Voice search

Press Speak in Search, or the microphone button on remotes that hand it to Kepler.

      • Say a channel number to tune in, a section to open it, or anything else to search for it.
    • New PRO

Your languages for sound and subtitles

Choose a first and a second language for the soundtrack and for subtitles.

      • Every film and episode starts in them.
      • Subtitles stay off until you turn them on, then stay on.
    • New

      Up next

In an episode’s last minute, a card offers the next one and plays it by itself.

      • Prefer to choose? Turn that off in Settings.
    • New PRO

      New episodes

The shows you follow tell you when new episodes arrive.

      • The shows in My list, and the ones you have been watching.
      • On Home, in Series and on the poster, and as a notification on your phone if you like.
    • Better

Recordings and downloads in Kepler’s own folder

New recordings and downloads still show in your gallery and other players.

      • Uninstalling Kepler now removes them, so they can never fill your storage behind your back.
      • A paused download no longer expires after a week.

    Also better

    • TV Moving through the guide, films and series does far less work on every press, and Kepler opens faster.
    • TV At the bottom of a list the rows move under the selector, instead of the selector jumping.
    • TV Every group in the guide shows how many channels it has.
    • Phone Features that need Kepler Pro wear the PRO badge.

    Fixed

    • Fixed Autoplay last channel reopens a channel in the list you watched it from: Favourites or one of your own groups.
    • TV “No information” no longer flashes over channels that have listings.
    • TV The banner no longer shows the previous channel’s quality while a new one connects.
    • Phone In light mode, sheets no longer show a pale strip under the navigation buttons.

Kepler 1.2 also brings the changes of 1.1, which went to testers only.

  7. Kepler 1.0
